“Obsessive Compulsions” Book Review

I think the concept of this book is very interesting – that most people display obsessive compulsive (OC) behaviors but do not meet the criteria for full OCD. There are some interesting case histories and historical references included to back up research. However, I was completely put off by Gualtieri’s tone. To me it seemed like he was making fun of people with OC tendencies. It seems completely inappropriate (and a bit heartless) to make light of a disorder that basically ruins lives. I found his generalizations to be sweeping and inaccurate. Guess I’ll have to turn to a different OCD book for better insight and a more professional tone.
