One of the most exciting things I remember from reading as a child was when a book used my name in it. There was a certain sense of joy and importance when I would see Erin in print. That’s why I think personalized books are so genius. This allows the child to see themselves in the story, as well as to encourage enthusiasm about reading itself.
Storybug reached out to ask if I’d like to review a few books. I wasn’t familiar with the company, but now I am going to be recommending them to everyone I know! You can select from a range of stories (everything from unicorns and princesses to superheroes and dinosaurs). From there, you can personalize the book with the child’s name, the gender, and several descriptors (such as skin tone, hair color, eye color, etc.). You can also do add-ons like freckles and glasses. You’re also able to write in who is gifting the book and the year.
The ordering process is really easy, and when you receive the book, it’s completely personalized with your choices. There’s also a message in the inside of the book that says “From: Your Name,” so the book can be a keepsake as well. There are so many things I love about this concept, but the best part is that these books just feel really special because of the many customization options.
On top of that, the stories (I was able to receive the monster truck one, a car one, and a day at the zoo) are very sweet. They’re short and simple, but they’re also educational and have great messages that should be taught to children (including perseverance and the importance of helping others). The illustrations are super vibrant with wonderful colors and images that tykes are sure to enjoy.
I would have absolutely loved this type of book when I was little, and I know the kids in my life are also going to adore them!
